Job Specifications:

Current PA RN Licensure. Master’s degree in Nursing (PhD in related discipline preferred) and minimum eight years academic, administrative, and/or teaching experience in related field in higher education; strong commitment to the philosophy, role, and mission of a comprehensive community college; excellent oral and written communication skills; experience in a multicultural institution preferred; experience with budget responsibilities preferred; knowledge of personnel functions and experience in faculty contract administration preferred.

General Summary:

Maintain the consistent administration of the Nursing Program to maximize student learning. Submit required reports to the State Board of Nursing and the National League of Nursing.

Location:

Position has college-wide responsibilities for the Nursing Program, but will be located at North Campus.

Nursing Faculty (Regular Full-time 10 months w/ benefits)

Two positions available. This is a regular full-time tenure-track 10 month position with benefits. Anticipated start date of this position is August 2012.

General Summary:

The primary responsibilities of the faculty are to teach and to develop the curriculum. To meet these responsibilities, faculty must remain knowledgeable about advances in their disciplines, in learning theory, and in pedagogy. Faculty portfolios will include contributions and program development and show evidence of ongoing professional development.

Salary:

10 months/year. Starting salary ranges from $41,002 to $46,399 per contract.

As part of a faculty fellowship program, this temporary position is a one year learning opportunity designed to increase the diversity of Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC), to provide an additional mechanism for recruiting a diverse faculty, and to provide an opportunity for minorities and other applicants who are committed to increasing campus diversity to participate in a program of professional development and training.

This position is under the auspices of the Deans of Academic Affairs.  The successful candidate will be a full-time temporary employee for one academic calendar year (Fall/Spring or Spring/Fall semester) in the Nursing department and will be assigned a full time load (15 credits or equivalent).

In addition to teaching, a Faculty Fellow will undertake additional professional assignments as assigned to tenure track employees, such as attending department/college meetings and participating on committees.  The Faculty Fellow will complete and submit a program evaluation at the conclusion of each semester.

The Faculty Fellow will be under the direct supervision of a Mentor who will be a Nursing Faculty member.  The Faculty Fellow will be given the opportunity to grow and to develop his/her skills in an effort to support the College’s diversity initiative.
